Puckett’s four extra-baggers launch the Minnesota Twins to a 10-8 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. He becomes the 35th player to hit four doubles in a game, the first since Toronto’s Damaso Garcia in 1986….

The Cubs lose to the Giants, 4 – 3 when a rally falls short. Jerome Walton is tagged for the last out as he is crawling to 3B. Walton injures his hamstring on the play and will miss a month, then come back to win the Rookie of the Year Award.
Mark Langston no-hits Toronto for eight innings before Tom Lawless singles and the Blue Jays rally for three runs to beat Seattle, 3 – 2. It is the third time this season that the Blue Jays have broken up a no-hit bid in the 9th inning.
A’s slugger Jose Canseco undergoes an operation to repair a stress fracture in his left hand and will miss the first half of the season. The injury occurred after just nine at-bats in the Cactus League.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Junior Felix becomes the 53rd player in major league history to hit a home run in his first at-bat with a 3rd-inning drive off Kirk McCaskill as Toronto loses, 3 – 2, to the California Angels in 10 innings.
